Bio

Judy Bass is a nationally known painter, and jewelry designer. Her paintings have been included in solo exhibitions, as well as numerous invitational group exhibitions.

In 1980, Bass had a solo exhibition at the Phillips Collection, and to this day, six of her paintings remain in their permanent collection.

As a visiting artist at The University of New Mexico in 1981-82, Bass was asked to speak to a forum of other artists on the subject of her solo exhibition. Yearly Summer visits continue to inspire and influence her art.

A Professor Emeritus at Marymount University for 32 years, Judy taught painting, drawing, 2-D design and jewelry design.

As Director and Chief Curator of the University’s Barry art Gallery, Bass introduced, displayed and enthusiastically supported the works of many new talents.

Bass, a jazz enthusiast, says that the texture and space of improvisational jazz has a strong influence on her style.
